Spring @ Matara

The last fortnight has brought some beautiful sun-filled days here at Matara, giving us hope that Spring is finally on its way!
Spring marks the awakening of nature after winter, with flowers bursting in to bloom and new life all around, making it the perfect time to start your adventure of married life together. At Matara our beautiful pink Cherry Blossom is beginning to flourish and the Woodland walk is scattered with a carpet of snowdrops.
So whether your planning your wedding at Matara in the next few months or looking for next spring, we've put together some ideas to help you create a beautiful Spring Wedding.
Decoration & Styling
Reflect the fresh feel of spring with delicate pastel tones such as mint green, lavender, powder blue and peach. This could be incorporated into your flowers with romantic seasonal flowers such as peonies, hyacinths, tulips and lilies of the valley hand tied with raffia. Adding greenery to your florals such as fern, lavender and eucalyptus carry through the spring theme and these can also be used for table decorations. For your favours why not give guests seed packets or a potted plant so they can watch it flourish yearly as a lasting memory of the wonderful wedding celebrations they shared with you.
Food
Food for spring is best simple and wholesome. Start with a light, crisp green salad served with Hobbs House Bakery Bread followed by Spring Lamb with Matara Wild Garlic & Rosemary gravy or Pink Roasted Salmon with Evesham Asparagus both served with locally sourced young vegetables drizzled with Netherend Farm butter. For Vegetarians a mixed mushroom strudel, including seasonal Morel mushrooms is a delicious alternative.
To please your sweet tooth, follow this with a Crab Apple and Rhubarb Tart, a tangy Lemon Flan or a delicate Crème Brule with a Homemade Shortbread biscuit.
For evening food why not serve a Traditional West Country Hog Roast with Homemade Apple Sauce and Stuffing in Floury Rolls by the Fire pit, bringing the fresh spring evening indoors.
Drink
Celebrate your Wedding with a drinks reception in the front courtyard with bubbling Processco and colourful pitchers of old fashioned lemonade and a selection of presse from Bottle Green.
To compliment your spring menu choose an elegant white wine such as our 2007 Macon Lugny or a rich robust red such as our Cht Clos Mansio Cotes de Blaye.
Entertainment
Celebrate the reawakening of spring with a lively traditional Ceilidh band or a local covers band, both of which will have everyone up and dancing.
Spring evenings can still bring a chill so why not pop some blankets out in the courtyard so guests can enjoy the beautiful lit up Cloistered Courtyard and lanterns without feeling the cold.
Best Wishes
Geoffrey, Rebecca & Holly
